This week’s New York Times Magazine has a selection of photographs, taken by Ashley Gilbertson, of the bedrooms of those who died in the conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan.  Collectively titled “The Shrine Down The Hall,” these black-and-white photographs of bedrooms neatly kept, with foot lockers stacked against the wall and war posters carefully framed among other items such as stuffed animals and sports trophies, is a heartbreaking reminder of what this country has sacrificed fighting a war on two fronts.
